I Praise You Because I Am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made.

I hear the verse, I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) almost every single day. It is a song on a CD and DVD that the kids have. But never has it sunk in like it has today.
Today I attended a Ladies Brunch at church, the guest speaker was Shari Braendel. Her Testimony she gave was heart felt, and she is just a very amazing woman! She is very to the point about being modest and how to dress modest and what looks great and what does not with your body type/skin tone. (well that is her job after all!)
One thing she said was to stop looking in the mirror and pointing out the bad things especially if you have a daughter who hears you say things like "I'm Fat" and then someone tells your daughter how pretty she is and that she looks just like her Momma.. Chances are your daughter just might start thinking she is fat as well...
Ladies God made you, so STOP picking at his work! Right now I am "over weight" and I need to do something about it, but this doesn't make me ugly and I vowel from now on to never ever say bad things about myself when I look into the mirror... I AM FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE! She does have a few websites one is her own and one is a site she contributes to, so be sure and check them out!

  2. I'm so thankful Afton and I got to be there to hear Shari's testimony. I had a couple of "aha" moments on the looks thing. Once when I was in the grocery store I realized in a new way that I look like this because this is the way God wanted me to look. Another day, I called my friend when it dawned on me that, although we never criticized the way our kids looked, we were both in error when we criticized own looks. Children learn by example. So we do need to demonstrate confidence in who we are in God.

  3. I had to come back and tell you thanks again. I loved her videos, I bet she was amazing in person. I know I'm fat too but I don't see myself as "fat" as I probably am. I see myself in a more positive light than I should in order to be motivated to lose weight. I have lost weight and can see a difference in pictures of myself. I also have the tools to lose weight but don't want to use them. So, maybe it's just that I'm comfortable with who I am right now even though I'd love to be able to wear a bikini this summer and be considered a "hot momma". :) But then what kind of attention would I attract? When my husbands attention is all I need to be concerned with and I do think I could do better at that. He likes me to look nice but comes home to a wife in t-shirts and workout pants everyday and guess what, I didn't even work out. I consider chasing my kids and doing laundry a workout. Oh, well. I do what I can or feel like and I know I can do better. This is just one spark of a reason that I love having you as a friend. I'm so glad that my life includes Godly women like you, Jenny, Amanda... I wish I'd known 10 years ago just how important it was. Thanks again for the post.

  5. Thanks to both of you!! Oh and Aimee when you lose weight you dont have to show it all off!! And also I think if you are cleaning around the house your husband might think you are a little crazy if he comes home and you look like you are ready for a night on the town! Sweats are still okay for this case, just put on a little make up, and throw on some jewelry you will feel so much better!!!

  8. That's a good verse to remember. One I always think of is Make a joyful noise unto the Lord. God doesn't care if you sing off key as long as you are joyful just as He doesn't care how much you weigh or what you look like.

Stopping by from SITS to welcome you!

    Cheers :-)
